The Emir of Dubai
In spite of his looking like a terrified owl
With a permanent aura of doom and gloom
And rejecting the easy smile for the dark scowl
There’s more to Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
-
Over thirty children and half a dozen wives
Though not all the espouses are still in Dubai
Nor all the children verifiably alive
Abductions and kidnappings thought to’ve gone awry
-
When he inherited a desertic sheikhdom
With its oil reserves drying faster’n spit on sand
He had the visionary and inspired wisdom
To think outside the box and wave his magic wand
-
Few people are unaware of what he’s achieved
Of the skyscrapers, of the man-made islands
For which universal plaudits he has received
For daring to alchemise gold from desert sands
-
His admirers proclaim that he has projected
His hungry backward and undeveloped country
From the middle ages to the unexpected
Fanfare of the modern twenty-first century
-
Friend of Prince Charles and her Britannic majesty
With whom he shares the love and thrill of horse racing
Once the Iron lady was another bestie
The Sheikh’s also famous for endurance riding
-
He is an expert in matters equestrian
And owns Godolphin Breeding International
Which is widely thought to be worth eighteen billion
As a role model simply, inspirational
-
He is a great friend of the United Kingdom
Indeed he is a noted Sandhurst alumnus
Steeped in the best English traditions and customs
But has no time for the prying and the curious
-
His country’s steeped in values pure and islamic
Adultery is punished by lashes or stonings
Alcohol consumption is downright satanic
And is punished by heavy fines and locking-ins
-
One would expect that forced incarceration
Would be dealt with a reaction blistering
Perhaps public hanging or decapitation
So how explain his own daughters have gone missing?
