Decision Deferred

Taj Mahal by Julian Yu (Unsplash)

Did you enjoy the play? Was it good?

Dunno. Haven’t read the critics yet.

Did you enjoy your holiday? Was it fun?

Dunno, haven’t seen my slides yet.

Did you enjoy your meal? Was it delicious?

Dunno. Haven’t seen the bill yet.

Ah Man!

Hiroshima bomb (Wikipedia)

We split the atom,

we made the bomb.

We also split Hiroshima.

We admit to but few boobs,

we’ve made babies in test tubes,

we’ve replaced people’s hearts,

kidneys, balls and other parts.

We’ve climbed the Everest

we’re equal to every test.

We’ve drilled under the sea, under conditions harsh and icy.

We’ve cracked the subconscious

and do surgery on the conscious.

We’ve proved Freud and Darwin right

and then we proved them wrong.

We’ve scrutinised the patterns on Saturn’s rings,

and accomplished impossible things.

We’re tops in warfare chemical,

nerve gas, binary or decimal,

so beware folks inimical.

And now no doubt

before the next century is out —

or at any rate before our grandchildren are very very old,

we’ll find that damn cure for the common cold.

Macbeth

Japanese Macbeth (wikipedia)

Macbeth, than the Black Death

was rather worse.

He killed, usurped and was without remorse.

Which didn’t stop his good lady thinking him a dripping wet.

First he let Banquo spoil his banquet

and then he threw up the milk of human kindness.

Now all the perfumes of Arabia cannot

Clean the mess

on Lady Mac’s carpet,
