The one with the doctor

A short drama

Doctor and Patient (unsplash)

Doctor’s surgery.

Doctor, looking tired and depressed.

Doctor

Come in please Mrs Robinson.

Middle-aged plump woman walks in panting heavily, nods at doctor who points

to a chair and she sits down.

Doctor

And how are you today Mrs Robinson?

Mrs R. stares at him with a look of concern.

Mrs R.

Never mind me doctor, but you look quite a sight yourself.

Doctor

(shrugs)

Aye, you’re right, hardly had any sleep last night …

Mrs R

Don’t tell me, I can see for myself… it’s your back_

Doctor

Aye. Back and shoulders … quite atrocious.

Mrs R

(With a little laugh)

I know how to deal with that, I can. Allow me.

Points to the patient couch, and doctor meekly walks to it and lies down there on his stomach. Mrs Robinson massages his back and shoulder blades, doctor purring with relief. Doctor sits up with a smile

Doctor

(smiling gratefully)

Mrs Robinson, you’ve got magical fingertips.

They walk back to his desk, and re-assume doctor-patient pose.

And what can I do for you, Mrs Robinson?

Mrs Robinson looks perplexed, feels herself, shakes her head.

Mrs R

Funny, but my pain’s gone now … I’m as fit as a fiddle now, thank you.

Doctor

I’m glad I was able to help. That will be twenty five pounds. Please pay at the desk.
