• Elle commença par lui raconter l’admiration dans les yeux du touriste quand il avait regardé une tente bazar. Elle comprit tout de suite qu’il l’aurait acheté à n’importe quel prix. Donc quand il demanda le prix, au lieu de dire trois cents roupies, elle a tenté sa chance et et en avait demandé cinq cents, que le gros couillon a payé sans marchander. Elle avait été ravie de sa grande aubaine, mais le même soir elle avait commencé à se sentir coupable. Elle n’arrivait plus à fermer l’oeil cette nuit là.
• -‘Et tu crois que tu as commis le pêché de l’avarice?’
• -‘Oui mon père.’
• Sur ce, Père Gilbert réfléchit un moment, et finit par arriver à un verdict.
• -‘Ma fille,’ lui dit-il, ‘c’est lui qui aurait du marchander, et il ne l’a pas fait, donc il sera facile pour le Seigneur de te pardonner, mais pour en être sûre, mets les deux cents roupies de trop que tu as gagnées dans la boite de quête quand tu sors.’
