An Erotic Poem by Mallarmé

Stéphane Mallarmé was a poet born in 1842 near Fontainebleau. He was a leader of the Symbolist movement. He was often inspired by Baudelaire. Debussy was inspired by his poem L’après-midi d’un faune and made it the theme of his famous Prélude. He also produced playful erotic pieces, as in the poem Mignonne which I translated for Medium.
Mignonne
Mignonne, sais-tu qu’on me blâme
De t’aimer comme je le fais ?
On dit que cela, sur mon âme !
Aura de singuliers effets;
Sweetie
Sweetie, you know they blame me
For loving you like I do
They say it will harm my psyche
That this passion I will rue
That you’re just a strumpet
With your arse your sole asset
They say you can of nought be sure
Apart from one thing, they think
That your pussy fresh and pink
Is the pussy of a whore!
What the fucking hell do I care?
When they indulge in such malice
I tell them it’s not their affair
For heavenly bliss of all bliss
With you I have a hard-on
And begging your pardon
The only fear for the wise
Is to see twixt his benumbed thighs
His limp dick failing to rise
